Ted's Manfrotto 290 Kit (MT293A3 + 494RC2) $124.95 - OzBargain

Height is a big difference. This one lets you get up to 1.7m or more, fully expanded (even higher if you don't fully expand the legs) Most cheap ones only go to around 1.4m, for some reason. As I'm closer to 1.7m in height, the Manfrotto (well the one I got) can take photos like I see things. Cheaper ones distort the way people look in ways I'm not expecting. (Different proportions if the camera is at a different height)

The construction of the Manfrotto I got is much, much better than the cheap ones I've gotten in the past. Where the cheap ones tended to wobble a bit with minimal pressure on the tripod, the Manfrotto feels nice and stable (on flat surfaces … or others if I adjust to compensate).

The T90 is an absolute beauty and has none of the problems normally associated with this camera (yet) so I am regularly putting film through it to keep the shutter operating nicely.

Likewise, the A1 has no sign of the shutter cough and is a lovely little program camera that has given me a lot of pleasure already.

The XR-P never seems to have been sold in the UK, Aand it is a real beauty, it tells you absolutely everything you need to know (and more) in the viewfinder. The only downside with this camera is that the +- exposure compensation symbol keeps flashing in the viewfinder even when exp comp is set to 0.

I found these to bind up if they weren’t adjusted properly, meaning the lid would not close all the way because the side panel would get in the way. With the attaché in place, the roller bag lid is held from opening all the way by two side straps. The bag has a number of dividers and can, in fact, handle a Canon 7D with battery grip attached and long lens. However, it is a tight fit and not entirely ideal as the camera is sitting on the lens (pointing down) and the zipper needs and extra tug to get around the bulge created in the lid. There is a hold-down strap to help keep clothes in place but other than that, the bag is a blank canvas for your non-camera packing needs. I liked the idea of the front kickstand as the bag is a bit front balanced when loaded. As a stand alone clothes bag, the roller part of the setup with the attaché removed is basic and functional. Some updates

I got my light stands recently and I've gotta say, they're pretty light. Though the only thing I really hate about my light stand is the way to lock and unlock, I'm pretty much satisfied with it overall. I don't really know how to explain, but no big deal, not like I'll be constant changing the height of my light stands once they're up and ready. Its like a head higher than I am, its like me standing tiptoed with the flash balancing on my finger tip. Place beside my 3rd party light stand, its quite a monster but I guess its quiet essential for balancing. Its a turning type, unlike my 3rd party one and my Manfrotto tripod which are like flip locks. Its pretty light even with all 3 in one hand and the foot opens up really wide....
