Bought these clamps a month ago and have worked very well in most applications. The shoe mount on the ball head is quite snug and sometimes a challenge to insert or take out the flash unit. DO NOT over tighten the lock mechanism on your flash unit! I broke the shoe mount on the ball head this weekend after snugging up the lock on my 580 II. Mostly, the shoe mount is tight enough to not even need to tighten the locking mechanism. Over all, a great product that has been VERY handy for this strobist.

Aside from not being able to use the AF assist tool at close distances (at longer distances, the beam reached the center AF point), it seems that the PocketWizard TT1 flash trigger affects the functionality of my AF assist tool. The behavior seems to be: the beam work for the first photo, and then will not work if the AF-ON button is pushed right away. Maybe it was the number of new tools I was trying out, maybe it was my energy level, maybe it was the alignment of the stars. I guess in retrospect I could have put a flash on top of the TT1 and tried using it’s AF assist beam… to try. I need to wait about 5 seconds before pushing the AF-ON (or 1/2 press the shutter button for that matter) before the beam will turn on again. The laser bean did not come on every time I pushed the AF-ON button on the camera like before. This hindrance alone totally messed up my work flow....

Olympus PEN cameras are lovely little things that combine the benefits of digital SLR functionality with the portability of a compact camera, and they also feature striking good looks. The PEN E-PM1 Mini is a little smaller than a regular Olympus PEN digital camera and it makes its case as being one of the smallest interchangeable lens cameras on the market.

The Mini a 12.3-megapixel, Micro Four Thirds-based camera that has very much the same shooting capabilities as the PEN E-P3 and PEN E-PL3 Lite . Despite being smaller than those cameras (it's only 3mm thinner than the Lite), the E-PM1 Mini will still be substantial in size, depending on which lens you attach. We used the 14-42mm lens for our tests, which is a retractable, lockable lens that makes the camera reasonably easy carry around with you and it can capture clear and vibrant pictures. For true portability, you might want to get your hands on the 17mm (which is 34mm in 35mm speak) pancake lens .

The 18 - 180 mm Zuiko lens appears to work better than the two lenses that came with the E-510 Olympus camera when I purchased it. The pictures appear consistently significantly sharper (better focus?) than most photos I've taken with the other lenses. I've had no problems with brightness working at the zoom / wide angle extremes (18 mm & 180 mm) as I think I read in one or two of the other reviews. I doubt I will use the original two lenses that came with the camera much anymore (if at all) because...
